When Ellis Park was constructed in Henderson, Kentucky in the early 1920’s, it was modeled with the famous Saratoga Race Track in mind. Today, Ellis Park still runs a live Thoroughbred horse racing summer meet accommodating visitors of all ages and everything from novice to expert horse players.

2011 live racing begins July 2 and ends Labor Day. Racing is conducted Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Each year the meet is highlighted by the Gardenia Stakes (GIII), which will be run this year on Saturday August 13.
Simulcasting is also available. Simulcasting at Ellis Park showcases he finest Thoroughbred and harness tracks including Churchill Downs, The Red Mile, Keeneland, Santa Anita, Saratoga, and Arlington.
